Shouldn't

Whee! You're 3 22!

better be

Whee Woohoo! You're 3 22!

or something similar?

Happy birthday to EE (not Electrical Engineering).

The minor trials and tribulations of being an adult -- they are many and stressful.

Personalized receipts showing the name of the person doing the checkout, combined with general-purpose logins: "Hi, I'm MGMT." "Hi, I'm CSHIER." "Hi, I'm SRVCE."

sam@pts/36> there appears that there may be a lot of zen in lipography
schoen@pts/16> but you can't say so :-)
sam@pts/36> dang
schoen@pts/16> you could say "Buddhism with koans"
sam@pts/36> Lipography looks to contain a lot of buddhism with koans

I went to the EFF housewarming party and once again met a bunch of interesting people. There were some pretty famous people and some pretty brilliant people.

These people look pretty interesting. I talked to them in some detail about their technology. You should also watch this space.

"Ain't Information a flirt?"

There was an interesting diversity of people there, from millionaire (and pauper) entrepreneur sorts to 2600 folks, libertarians, Greens, socialists, left and right anarchists, and the occasional boring Democrat or Republican. L. Peter Deutsch was there (aren't his initials an interesting co-incidence, considering his long-time association with Unix printing? what would Dr. Matrix have to say about that?) and a number of lawyers and someone from the Chaos Computer Club and programmers of all ages, many who had been programming long before I was born. There were professional musicians and Brad Templeton and J. P. Barlow and Google founders in disguise and Drew, whom I'll see again tomorrow in Berkeley. There were cypherpunks too, and Starchild, the chair of the San Francisco Libertarian Party.

Many, many people had been laid off recently. One woman had a nametag saying "I was RIF'ed today". It took me a minute. Oh. "Reduction In Force".

Like Steve, I have had Weinhard's root beer bubble over when I set it down after drinking from it. This seems to happen pretty reliably, and also seems to happen with other Weinhard's carbonated beverages. This reminds me that I should visit Robyn, which reminds me that I should get a BART Plus pass, which reminds me that I should get a job.
